Our sweet chocolate litter is adorable! The puppies are so inquisitive and are having a great time curiously exploring their ever expanding world. We are exposing the pups to many new and unique situations using the Seven Steps of Socialization. They are playing with new toys, encountering new smiling faces, and moving to new locations in our home and beyond. They recently stepped out onto our deck for the first time, and within the next week we will allow them to go outside into the great big world of our backyard. We also have them interact with other pets, listen to noises that they may encounter as adults, and eat in unfamiliar environments out of different types of bowls. All of these social experiences are purposeful and intentional. When a puppy is exposed to new stimuli in the first 7 weeks of his or her life, they become acclimated to the new experience and will respond with little fear or nervousness when they encounter the situation again as an adult. We make the most of these social weeks in the puppies' lives by exposing them to as many varied social experiences as we can, in a very controlled manner. We note the way in which each puppy responds to the new encounter, so that we are able to document the personality differences apparent in each pup. They are all enjoying this special period of exploration, and WE are having such a great time with this chocolate litter!
