At Kingridge, every puppy is raised with extraordinary intention. Drawing on more than fifteen years of breeding experience, a background in developmental psychology, and a lifelong fascination with early development, Joy created Smart from the Start, Kingridge's signature approach to puppy development.
Within days of birth, each puppy begins a thoughtfully designed program of Early Neurological Stimulation, purposeful socialization, and gentle, age-appropriate training experiences. Every stage is approached with intention and deep affection, encouraging curiosity, emotional stability, and the qualities that help a Labrador thrive as both a beloved family companion and a capable working partner.
Over the years, we have had the privilege of watching Kingridge Labradors step into remarkable roles, bringing comfort through therapy work, supporting children with autism, developing the awareness needed for diabetic alert work, and, most importantly, becoming deeply intuitive companions within their families. Knowing the profound impact an intentionally raised Labrador can have on a family's life continues to inspire every decision we make.

Every puppy is raised in the heart of our loving family, with purposeful socialization experiences woven into their development to help build lifelong confidence and adaptability. Following the seven steps of socialization, we intentionally introduce each puppy to forty-nine carefully chosen experiences designed to prepare them for life beyond Kingridge.
Each puppy begins a structured daily training program built on positive, consistent repetition. Progress is carefully tracked as each lesson builds on the one before, creating a strong foundation in manners, obedience, crate, and potty routines. This foundation helps each puppy become confident, well-mannered, and eager to continue learning at home.
We believe the right match makes all the difference in the life a puppy and family will share together. Through weeks of careful observation, family questionnaires, and an independent temperament evaluation, we come to know each puppy as an individual. We then consider each family’s unique goals and priorities to help guide a match made in heaven.
Our connection with each puppy does not end when they leave our home. We have loved, nurtured, and come to know each precious pup from the very beginning, and we care deeply about the life they go on to share with their family. We love staying connected through pictures, updates, and milestones, while remaining a source of guidance and lifelong support.
