The vision behind Kingridge
A Lifelong Passion
For as long as I can remember, I have been fascinated by the relationship between people and dogs. After all, they have an almost unmatched ability to bring joy to life’s happiest moments, offer comfort through the hardest seasons, and understand us in ways that often seem to transcend words. I grew up with dogs, and over the years, the lifelong love I had for them became something deeper, a desire to understand why certain dogs seem so remarkably attuned to people, sensing what they need and responding in ways that feel profoundly intuitive. The kind of dog that feels like it was made for you and your family. That bond is ultimately what inspired Kingridge. My heart was especially captured by the Labrador Retriever. I was fascinated by the extraordinary ways these dogs could serve people as guide dogs for the blind, therapy dogs, assistance dogs, and faithful friends. Their intelligence, warmth, gentle temperament, and unwavering devotion seemed to embody everything I valued most in dogs.
Nearly 20 years later, that admiration grew into a desire to breed Labradors with exceptional health, beauty, intelligence, and temperament. I wanted to raise them with a level of care that would prepare them not simply to enter a family, but to become the best versions of who they were meant to be and become a loving, deeply cherished member of that family. My background in psychology and fascination with development, together with the experience of raising and homeschooling our ten children, has profoundly shaped the way I think about early development. I have always known that the earliest experiences in life matter. They help shape confidence, curiosity, resilience, adaptability, and the ability to form secure, trusting relationships. It is the same with dogs, and over time, that belief became the foundation of our approach at Kingridge Kennels. It is why we developed our Smart from the Start puppy-development program and ultimately it is what drives our entire breeding philosophy.

Kingridge has always been a deeply cherished part of our family's story. Although we paused our breeding program for a season, our love for Labradors and our vision for the kind of puppies we wanted to raise never wavered. At the heart of Kingridge has always been a belief that exceptional puppies are shaped by more than genetics alone. Thoughtful breeding, careful early development, and the experiences that fill those first weeks of life continue to be the foundation of our Smart From the Start philosophy. We feel so deeply blessed to carry this work forward as a family, raising exceptional Labradors with the highest standards that have always defined Kingridge.
