Sensational Senses are Developing

The last 2 weeks have flown by! The pups are all gaining weight so quickly, and are staying awake for longer periods of time. They still sleep for a majority of the day, but their awake and alert stretches are lasting longer. We gave the puppies their first dose of worming medicine today to ensure that parasites do not steal any of their nutrients. Worms are a very common part of raising puppies, and one must administer medicine at regular intervals to protect the pups from those nasty creatures. They will be wormed again several more times in their care with us.

Black puppy with newly opened eyesYellow pup with eyes opened for the first timeTonight the last of the pups opened his eyes, and now each of them can see the great big world around them. The unfolding and gradual opening of the puppies' eyes happened over the last 48 hours. Although their vision will be blurry for quite some time, they are experiencing many new sensations with the opening of their eyes and ears. Naturally, they become increasingly curious as their senses of sight and hearing develop. Soon they will be crawling around the whelping box exploring their surroundings with ease.

The BioSensor Therapy has been going well, and each puppy has been responding with more intensity when exposed to the various stimuli. Of course, their reaction is also determined by other influences, and the same puppy who may show almost no reaction to therapy on one morning, can be squirming and whining for the evening session. It is precious to witness the changes in their countenance, and their growing confidence as they mature together as a litter. Oh how fun!
