First Five Days

 We have really been enjoying the first five days with this new precious litter. Time has passed like a whirlwind since Easter, and we are slowly returning to a bit of a routine. This is a time of explosive growth and development in each of the pup's lives. The puppies began BioSensor Therapy on Wednesday and will continue the program twice a day until they are 16 days old. As we interact with the puppies during BioSensor Therapy we record their responses to the stimuli during each session. This information will be added to the journal that we present to each family on the day of puppy pickup. Already we are starting to observe slight nuances relating to the puppies behaviors, although we will not have any concrete indications until the litter is approximately 5 weeks old. However, observation and documentation at this point in the puppies' development help us to collect valuable insights that confirm what we will see later. Each of the pups is growing stronger and larger everyday. We have had to replace their ribbons twice already because of their expanding neck circumferences. Some of the puppies are already able to walk feebly, but diligently, all the way across the whelping pen to get to their mother for a nursing session. They nurse just about every hour, and when they are not feeding they are sleeping. Of course, their eyes are not yet open, but I will let you know as soon as that monumental occasion occurs. I have added some new pictures of each of the puppies to the "Current Litter" page of the website and will continue to document all of the anticipated milestones as they unfold. |
